Milan’s relationship with luxury has always been as much about atmosphere as it is about architecture. Its grand hotels have long served as extensions of the city’s social fabric, hosting the overlapping worlds of fashion, finance, design and international hospitality with the kind of understated polish Milan does so well. Park Hyatt Milano, just steps from the Duomo and opening directly onto Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, belongs firmly to that tradition.

Even for those simply passing through, the hotel projects a particular mood: soft lighting, pale marble, intimate interiors and the quiet choreography of aperitivo hour and business meetings unfolding side by side. Tucked inside, with its own independent entrance on Via Pellico, Mio Lab has gradually established itself as far more than a hotel bar. Its location gives it a natural connection to the city centre, but its credibility comes from the drinks programme itself.
The Mio Lab Cocktail Menu

Since 2015, Bar and Lobby Manager Alessandro Iacobucci Vitoni has shaped the offering around two parallel identities. The “Classic Collection” twists four cocktail families — Americano, Negroni, Collins and Sparkling — with a clear respect for proportion, structure and readability. The “Contemporary Collection”, by contrast, is where the bar’s more original voice emerges, through signatures built with greater freedom. One of the most requested remains “Mr Smith”, created by Vitoni. It begins with the architecture of a Negroni, then shifts into different territory: longer, more layered, with the rounded richness of vermouth and the warmth of whisky sharpened by dry sherry and soda.

Behind the scenes, the programme relies on constant in-house preparation. Fresh citrus and fruit move through the bar daily, while bitters, infusions and aromatic components are developed internally to expand the menu’s flavour range. What gives Mio Lab its staying power, however, is its range. Technically ambitious drinks sit comfortably alongside more immediate crowd-pleasers, while the alcohol-free selection is approached with the same seriousness as the main list which also includes a collection of more than 300 spirits and after-dinner liqueurs.
