Manifesto of Nonsense, ViceVersa’s New Drink List Grows Even More Futurist

Echoes of Futurism guided the opening of ViceVersa, the Miami cocktail bar with a keen eye for the all-Italian aperitivo ritual led by Valentino Longo. Now the new drink list reinforces that link to the early-20th-century movement. Its title? Manifesto of Nonsense — ten new recipes ready to delight every palate.

Manifesto of Nonsense: ViceVersa’s New (Futurist) Drink List

The Manifesto of Nonsense brings back a few serves from the previous menu, but the spotlight falls on ten new creations, divided into five sections: Aperire (from the Latin “to open”), Exciting, Aphrodisiac, Relaxing, and Digestivo.

Aperire includes two aperitivo drinks: Melavista, made with sherry, apple, and sparkling wine, and Little Toni.Co, which combines Port, sherry, tonic, olive brine, and elderflower liqueur.
The Exciting section features ZigZag, crafted with mezcal, horchata, espresso, almonds, and hazelnut liqueur, along with Sgroppino, built on tequila blanco, bergamot rosolio, rosé wine, and lemon.

The flag bearers of the Aphrodisiac section are, naturally, two spicy cocktails: Balla! Balla!, based on vodka and bianco vermouth, enriched with strawberry Port, chili, and wild fennel; and Parthenope, made with tequila, mandarin, Mexican orange liqueur, fennel, and a bright, balsamic note of basil.

The drinks that embody the Relaxing concept are variations on the Martini theme: Puttanesca Martini, made with vodka, olive oil, caper leaf, vermouth, and brine; and Pasolini, built on gin with red wine, an oolong tea reduction, aromatized wine, and pumpkin.

Closing the lineup are the two Digestivo cocktails — both designed for after dinner. Forza!, a structured blend of bourbon, bergamot rosolio, vermouth, amaro, Oloroso sherry, and blackcurrant; and Poesia, which combines bourbon with cognac and amaro, finished with a subtle tea note.

Manifesto of Nonsense and the Art of Jean Vaquier

The Manifesto of Nonsense menu is enhanced by a series of illustrations clearly inspired by Futurism. They were created by the Italo-French artist Jean “Folzer” Vaquier, whose work also appears on the walls of ViceVersa in Miami as framed posters — and, in different forms, across the venue’s merchandise.

Back when ViceVersa first opened, bartender Valentino Longo explained that “working around the world opened my eyes to new techniques and ingredients, without ever uprooting me from my Italian origins.” The idea behind the Miami bar, he added, was “to tell that story, weaving my past and my present into every sip.”

Manifesto of Nonsense confirms that ViceVersa has stayed true to its founding spirit. The path remains the same — interpreted with fresh energy and a touch of irreverence that keeps things light, yet always deeply grounded.
