Lucio D’Orsi and the Arrival of Dry Martini in Sorrento

As general manager of the Majestic Palace, D’Orsi understands hospitality from the dining room to the cocktail counter. His passion for mixology played a central role in bringing Dry Martini by Javier de las Muelas to Sorrento. In 2018, together with Giulia Rossano and the Spanish mixologist, he helped establish the brand’s first Italian location. The opening gave the hotel bar a distinct identity, placing the Martini at the heart of its cocktail program and making attentive service an essential part of the experience.

Majestic Palace: A Cocktail Destination on the Sorrento Coast

Set in the residential neighborhood of Sant’Agnello, the Majestic Palace Hotel has become a destination for cocktail enthusiasts, thanks in part to Dry Martini and its sweeping views across the Bay of Naples. The hotel is also home to Don Geppi, the restaurant led by chef Mario Affinita, which holds one Michelin star in the 2026 Michelin Guide Italy. Fine dining and cocktail culture share the same address, giving guests plenty of reasons to linger at the hotel after a day exploring the Sorrento Coast.

A Qualcuno Piace Dry: a Cocktail Menu Worth Taking Your Time Over

Regulars at Dry Martini Sorrento know that choosing a drink can take a little time. The menu features approximately 200 cocktails, including more than 100 interpretations of the Martini, the Excentrics collection and Drypedia, a selection inspired by the seven arts. For the presentation of Coqtail’s tenth issue, the bar has prepared a dedicated drinks menu, beginning with a welcome glass of Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Extra Brut.

Among the cocktails is the Umami N.5, made with Altamura Distilleries Vodka, Parmigiano Reggiano cordial, lemon-infused extra-dry vermouth and white pepper tincture. The No(am) Limits combines Noam Beer with 12-year-old whisky, a few drops of herbal liqueur and lemon, while the Sharon Stone brings together Venezuelan Chuao dark chocolate, OF Dorange Bonollo 1908, Altamura Distilleries Vodka and orange blossom essence. In the Da Vinci, Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Brut meets amaro, sweet vermouth, anise liqueur, licorice and raspberry. Completing the selection is the Garden Fizz, featuring Presobene London Dry Gin alongside wormwood, basil, bergamot, celery and lemon. Guests will also be served tastings of Parmigiano Reggiano to pair the cocktails throughout the evening.

Welcome: Exploring Hotel Bars Through the Eyes of Coqtail

Welcome, il numero 10 del magazine

With a cocktail menu this extensive, the bartender’s guidance becomes part of the experience. A simple question about personal preferences, or an interest in trying something unfamiliar, can help steer guests toward their next drink. These everyday exchanges are among the many aspects of hospitality explored in Welcome, the tenth issue of Coqtail – for fine drinkers, dedicated to hotel bars and the professionals who shape the guest experience night after night.

Figures such as Lucio D’Orsi demonstrate how a hotel bar can become a destination in its own right, attracting local residents as well as travelers. On October 12, Dry Martini Sorrento will offer a fitting setting to celebrate that very idea.
