Rosewood Hong Kong has officially unveiled the new team behind the bar at DarkSide, now led by Marco Maiorano in the role of Bar Manager. He is joined by Assistant Bar Manager Ian Lui and Senior Bartender Cynthia Wong. Together, they pursue a dual mission: upholding the bar’s already high standards and using cocktails as a way to “inspire and promote positive change within the community.”
The DarkSide at Rosewood Hong Kong

DarkSide is known for its remarkable collection of rare, long-aged spirits. Some bottles date back to the early 19th century and stand as a point of pride for the venue. Complementing the spirits are an elegant ambiance, live jazz, and a cocktail menu that blends time-honored classics with contemporary techniques.

These elements have earned DarkSide a place among the world’s leading cocktail destinations. It has appeared on Asia’s 50 Best Bars for four consecutive years and twice on The World’s 50 Best Bars list. Now, Marco Maiorano steps in to inherit this legacy and guide it toward new milestones
Marco Maiorano Takes the Helm

Maiorano brings with him an international background shaped largely in London, at The Connaught and Scarfes Bar, and in Singapore. “I’m absolutely delighted to rejoin the Rosewood family once again and to have the opportunity to contribute to such a prestigious bar as DarkSide,” he says. “It’s a place where history, creativity and craftsmanship converge, and I can’t wait to help shape its next chapter.”
Part of this new era is the expressed intention to develop a program with strong social purpose, ensuring each guest can enjoy a memorable drink — flawless in flavor, technique and presentation — delivered through an experience with genuine depth and meaning.

Alongside Maiorano are Ian Lui and Cynthia Wong. Lui, joins from Rosewood Bangkok, while Wong draws from experience at venues including Shady Acres, Resonance, OBE Bar and Scarfes Bar. Together, they are already working to uphold the exceptionally high standards of the cocktail bar at Rosewood Hong Kong —recently named the best hotel for 2025 by The World’s 50 Best Hotels.
