Pop City x Pony: Jigger & Pony Reinvents the Cocktail Bar in Singapore

The latest opening from Jigger & Pony Group is Pop City x Pony, a cocktail bar that pairs Japanese culture with the cosmopolitan energy of Singapore. To check it out, head to 19 Cecil Street.

What Is Pop City x Pony

Pop City x Pony is the latest project from Jigger & Pony, the bar that helped secure Singapore’s place on the world’s cocktail map. In 2025 alone, Jigger & Pony ranked third on Asia’s 50 Best Bars and ninth on The World’s 50 Best Bars – a solid foundation to build on.

Locale interno del Pop City x Pony

The defining trait of Pop City x Pony is its tribute to contemporary Japanese culture: you find it in the ingredients, in the soundtrack, in the fashion references and in the creative subcultures it nods to. The décor follows the same direction. Behind the counter stands a hand-painted byōbu, the traditional Japanese folding screen, while the Bar Mixtape area is an intimate space that recalls Tokyo’s tiny bars with just a few seats and a single bartender running the night.

The Japan connection also extends to the backbar, thanks to a partnership with one of the country’s oldest and most important distilleries, now producing whisky, gin and vodka deeply rooted in Japanese tradition.

What to Drink at Pop City x Pony

The name Pop City x Pony hints at the split personality of the menu. “Pop cocktails are driven by energy and emotion, full of spontaneity and vibrancy, while the City cocktails focus on structure, texture and understated refinement,” explains Aki Eguchi, Bar Programme Director of Jigger & Pony Group. “Together, they express the duality of Pop City, where creativity meets emotion and every sip reveals a little more about who we are.”

The menu counts 16 signature cocktails, eight in each section, plus three alcohol-free options and two seasonal serves that change every month.

All Pop cocktails take their cue from Japanese music. Strawberry Love Punch, made with Japanese gin, strawberries, the balsamic lift of basil, sherry, lemon and absinthe, is inspired by Plastic Love by Mariya Takeuchi.

Nu-Paper Plane looks instead to Tokyo’s Nu-Jazz scene and combines bourbon, Sansho pepper, two amari, lemon and peach. HØJ1CHA €SPR€$$Ø MART1N1 (a nod to techno artist ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U) brings together Japanese vodka, hojicha, coffee liqueur, mezcal and Angostura.

The City Cocktails

The headline serve in the City section is Pop City Sour, conceived as a liquid portrait of the bar. It takes its inspiration from Shibuya’s fashion-forward youth, and in the glass you find Japanese whisky, sour plum, aromatized wine, purple shiso, lemon and egg white.

A Japanese luxury fashion brand is the starting point for Mikan French 75, made with Japanese whisky, mikan, the bar’s own sparkling sake, lemon and blackberry liqueur. Sakura Bamboo, built on a blend of Japanese vodka and gin with bamboo leaf, vermouth, sake and Angostura, is a tribute to a Japanese women’s prêt-à-porter label.

The Seasonal Cocktails at Pop City x Pony

The seasonal drinks are based on nijuushi-sekki, the traditional division of the year into 24 equal segments, each defined by the position of the sun. These segments guide agriculture and everyday life in Japan and, at Pop City x Pony, they also shape the seasonal section of the menu.

This part of the list is called Season in Motion and introduces two new cocktails every month. The common thread is a strong experimental streak. The first pair of serves was Fuji Apple & Oyster Leaf Fizz, with Japanese whisky, Fuji apple and oyster leaf, and Shiitake Mushroom Negroni, a twist on the count’s classic with Japanese gin, shiitake mushrooms, vermouth and amaro. First one is linked to the period of heavy snowfall, the second to the winter solstice.

“The beauty of Season in Motion is that it’s constantly evolving. Every month we have the freedom to experiment and respond to whatever is inspiring us in that moment, whether it’s the ingredients we can source or the mood of our guests,” says Bar Manager Sylvia Chong. “It’s about creating spaces where people can express themselves, discover and feel inspired through flavour and connection. Every cocktail carries that same spirit: alive, changing and full of passion.”
